Shallyn and Jason Engagement Photos

Spring weather prevailed on Sunday when I met Shallyn and Jason at the North Star Mine Powerhouse for their engagment session. Shallyn is best friends with my oldest daughter, Kayla, and we're very much looking forward to going to beautiful Lake Tahoe for their sunset wedding on the beach in August. Oh, it's gonna be a good time ... I can already feel it. Shallyn and Jason are a very gracious and fun couple and we had an enjoyable time getting to know each other and capturing some really nice photos. More to come at the wedding! Mardi Gras in Nevada City, CA

Nevada City celebrates Mardi Gras every year with, among other things, a fun parade down Broad St downtown. This year my daughter, Sonya, who is all about dance, participated in the parade with the African drummers and dance group. Of course, I had to get out and see and hear that and get a few shots of her and the revelry. It was nice weather so there was a large turnout of onlookers and the crowd really got into the primal beat of the drums and other percussion insturments, and the free flowing dance of the group. They did a great job and was one of the crowd favorites. My daughter, Jula, came along with me and helped me out with my gear and took a few photos as well. The last pic is of her and the nice collection of beads she managed to acquire.
