Thank you for visiting! I am an award winning destination wedding photographer based in the Sierra foothills just east of Sacramento, in Grass Valley, CA, and serving all of Northern California and in the winter I spend as much time as possible photographing weddings in sunny, romantic Mexico.

Caitlin and Nico Engagement

On Saturday Caitlin and Nico drove up from San Francisco to beautiful Nevada County to meet up with me for their engagement session. What a super couple, they were ready to have a good time with the shoot and came up with a few ideas of their own. Nico enjoys photography, too, and is a bit of a ham so Caitlin followed his lead and we were off and running. We started at Pioneer Park in Nevada City and ended up at the Railroad Museum nearby and there were lots of photo ops at both sites. Caitlin even took a few photos of Nico and I juggling, trying to pass. Sure had a great time! Looking forward to their wedding in May at Sand Rock Farm in Aptos, CA.
They had never been to Nevada City before so after the shoot I steered them to Broad Street before I had to take off. Caitlin said they had a lovely dinner at Lefty's and, at the candy store across the street, one of the best hot chocolates she's ever had. Awesome, ...welcome to Nevada County! Nico's into cycling so maybe they'll come back up next year for the Nevada City Classic or the start of the Tour of California.

Snow's Melting Fast

After a furious start late last night and early this a.m the snow's fading fast, about 1/2 gone now, this afternoon, as the sun came out. Even the hummingbird is back to the feeder, dodging globs of snow falling off of the trees. Here's a few pics.
OK, .. back to work on Caitlin and Nico's engagement pics we shot on Sat. Hope to have some of those posted on the blog in a couple of days.

Fun in the Snow

I woke up this morning to our first snow this winter, 9 1/2 inches. That's a lot of snow here at the 2000 ft elevation of Nevada County, CA, considering 11 inches is the most we've ever had since we built this home in 1991. We're only 1 to 2 hours drive from all the ski resorts around Lake Tahoe, but at this elevation only 2 to 4 storms a year brings snow. The girls are loving it! No school today, ...they've been sledding down the driveway all morning. We've got a steep upslope driveway with 4 switchbacks which affords lots of sledding.

Jula, not yet up to speed.
