Lisa and Robert Engagement

Yesterday I met Lisa and Robert, a very nice and friendly couple from Lincoln, and had a fun time shooting their engagement photos at beautiful Pioneer Park in Nevada City. It had been a hot day but the shoot took place in the late afternoon to take advantage of the softer warmer light, and amongst the tall pine trees it was already much cooler and very pleasant. Lisa and Robert fell in love with the park and got into the flow of the shoot very quickly. As we developed a rapport the photos became more relaxed, candid, and natural. Their feelings for each other really came out. That's the way I like to shoot .... when, at moments, my couples even forget I'm there.
Robert is a big baseball fan and they suggested that we take a few photos at the baseball field. I love trying new and different locations and we went to the dugout and shot a few edgier images with the chain link fencing. I had a blast ... always get excited when I know I'm getting great shots! Below are a few of the shots I took.
I'm looking forward to seeing them again and photographing their wedding in November.

Melissa and Isidro Engagement

On Saturday I traveled to Jackson, CA to meet Melissa and Isidro at the Jackson Rancheria Hotel to see the venue where they will be married on Sept 27. They were referred to me by my friend and fellow wedding photographer, Nicolette Mode, who did a great job shooting Melissa's sisters wedding earlier this year but was already booked for their date. We took the opportunity to shoot some engagement photos at the hotel then proceeded to Melissa's parents beautiful home nearby to shoot more and include some shots of their cute kiddos, Emma and Isidro the 3rd.
They are a great couple, excited about getting married, and I'm very much looking forward to photographing their wedding soon! Here are a few photos that I took while there.

Nevada County Fair

Our annual Nevada County Fair is in full swing this week. Located in Grass Valley, CA, and situated amidst the towering pine trees, it is one of the most beautiful fairgrounds in the state. For my daughters it's all about hanging out with their friends and and getting slung about on the daredevil rides. I hadn't been in several years and was looking forward to the fun photo ops presented by the bright lights, swirling action and crying out loud colors. No dollar burning rides for me, my puke threshold has been lowered significantly in the last decade. Tons of other fun stuff to see and do, though. Great exhibits, music, corndogs, rodeo ...
